Service Spotlight: Celebration of 1,000+ Service Hours!May 2019

The month of May was especially busy for our Saltmarsh team and consisted of several service projects which resulted in a huge jump toward our community service goal. At the beginning of the year, and in honor of our 75th Anniversary, we set out to contribute 1,944 service hours to organizations across our many southeastern communities... and we are thrilled to have officially broken the 1,000-service hour threshold!

On May 13th, staff members in Pensacola left their desks behind in favor of spending a day with the Pensacola Humane Society and their adoptable four-legged friends. Together we showered 23 puppies with love while giving them baths and taking them for walks. Coincidentally, the Pensacola Humane Society is celebrating their own 75th Anniversary by improving the lives of homeless animals in the local community!

On Saturday, May 18th, our Orlando team took part in the FICPA’s CPA Day of Service at Hope Helps, Inc. Hope Helps is a food pantry that offers nonperishable food, produce, meat and fresh bread to families in need. Our team assisted in sorting foods, walking new families through the shopping process, and cleaning the pantry so it was ready to go the next day.

Our Tampa team also participated in the CPA Day of Service with their local FICPA Chapter and headed to Metropolitan Ministries, where they assisted in the Ministries’ kitchen - prepping lunch wraps, bagels, and fruit cups, which are sold to support various in-house food assistance programs. The programs serve over 75,000 meals every month in Tampa Bay and in the surrounding areas. In the Clothing Warehouse, volunteers took to the racks to sort clothing donations and household goods to make shopping easier for the families.

Saltmarsh is grateful for the opportunity to volunteer our time to the charitable organizations we have in our communities and look forward to contributing even more in the years to come. Stay tuned to see what other service projects we have in store!
