In May, we hosted our annual Beacon Summer Leadership series, a unique program designed for accounting students to experience what a career in public accounting is like. Now in its 8th year, Beacon attracted more than 30 students representing universities throughout the southeast for two days of leadership training and team building in our Pensacola and Tampa offices.

Schools represented this year include:

Students were invited to meet our team, learn about our culture, and participate in mini sessions focused on practical topics like personal branding, communication skills, and embracing your strengths. Students then participated in experiential learning opportunities to explore a ‘day in the life’ of our tax and audit staff followed by interviews with our leadership team. This year’s Beacon program debuted our ‘Amazing Race’, a scavenger hunt that allowed students to explore Pensacola and Tampa’s landmarks while demonstrating teamwork and leadership skills.

“We’re very proud of how well-attended our programs were this year. Beacon is a dynamic and immersive learning experience that showcases the special culture we have here at Saltmarsh and plays an important part in identifying emerging talent within the profession. Students expressed how they felt ‘at home’ and thought it was informative, entertaining and memorable. We are eager to see many of them again as future interns and new staff,” says Mel Kleinert, Director of Talent Acquisition and Planning.

We look forward to returning to college campuses this fall to meet more future accountants who are ready to join Beacon and take the first step toward joining the Saltmarsh Family. This program has helped some of the best and brightest find a home at Saltmarsh and we appreciate all who contribute to making it a success! We’re excited to welcome our next Beacon class to our offices in May 2025!
