Saltmarsh Announces Internal Promotions of 2023

We're proud to announce the following internal promotions as of January 1, 2023!

Shareholder

Michael Cole, JD, MSPA - He started with us in 2021 and has over 15 years of public accounting experience specializing in M&A, 704(b) and complex compliance issue resolution. His leadership presence is apparent both internally with his team and when he speaks at tax conferences around the country. He takes great pride in developing business as well as developing our people!

Josh Strickland, CPA - In 2010, he started with the Financial Institution practice with an eagerness to learn, which is still evident today. He is a leader amongst his team and is happy to attend networking events to meet new people, often volunteers to learn new things and teach them to others and engages with prospective employees to share his career journey with them.

Senior Manager & Director

Judy Fryer - She has significant experience in medical plan administration and leads a team that processes and adjudicates claims, and she facilitates open enrollment meetings for employee benefit plan clients. She takes great pride in offering quality service to her clients!

Christina Maslen - She started with us in 2011, but has been working in public accounting since 2008. She currently lives in Germany and leads our Trust and Estate Planning team. She received the Trusted Advisor Fundamental Award in 2022 and was also given an MVP award during our Level Up Summer Business Development Challenge.

Supervisors and Managers

Mark Hemby, CFA - He had over 15 years of portfolio management experience before starting with Saltmarsh Financial Advisors, LLC in 2020. His hard work in identifying potential clients and making instant connections is something to admire.

Emily Lalas - She has a passion for developing clients in the non-profit sector, is an active networker in the community and enjoys opportunities to speak and educate others. She also enjoys training our new staff!

Alonna Perry, CPA – She started as an Audit Intern in 2016 and has continued that audit focus, primarily with our Financial Institution clients. She is a team player and develops great relationships with her clients.

Jennifer Sheffield – She recently earned her bachelor's degree in Accounting while working full-time and building relationships with clients, developing her team and gaining new technology skills.

Seniors

Julia Carreton - She started with several years of consulting and financial accounting experience in Peru and Spain. She is currently pursuing her CPA and is a member of our D&I Committee!

Lauren King, CPA - She started with several years of financial accounting experience with small businesses and start-ups before taking a walk on the ‘wild side’ in public accounting.

Chase Ibbotson, CPA - While attending Florida Southern College, he joined Saltmarsh as an Audit intern and his dedication and drive were recognized right away! He is a co-chair for the NextGen Committee this year and is a Campus Ambassador for his alma mater.

Jess Schultz - She attended our Beacon Summer Leadership program in 2021 and started full-time a few months later. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida where she is an active Campus Ambassador, attending recruiting events on behalf of the firm.

Maria Thompkins - She participated in our first Beacon Summer Leadership program in 2017, and in 2020, she completed her internship and started full-time. She is also one of our Campus Ambassadors for Pensacola Christian College and the University of West Florida.

Matt Anderer - He joined us with tax experience from a smaller CPA firm shows off his team player abilities with the referral of additional tax professionals hired in the Orlando area. He is also one of our Campus Ambassadors for the University of Central Florida!

Teri Elkins - She has grown her skills in the area of Outsourced Accounting Solutions and enjoys taking care of her clients while getting involved in business development opportunities.

Abigail Pombert - She attended our Beacon Summer Leadership program in 2019, was a Tax Intern in 2020 and started full-time in 2021. She raised her hand to co-chair the NextGen Committee our first year and enjoys networking!

Jordan Speed, CPA - She started as a Tax Intern in 2020 and shortly after was hired full-time. Her personal drive for “getting it right” has made her a go-to person for many new team members who are striving to learn!
